Today’s T20I betting odds make Australia favourites and I think that’s not right, so it’s the Windies who are very much the bet here.

West Indies Team News
The Windies will be bitterly disappointed to have lost that Series to South Africa last week.
They feel they have lots of options to choose from but Evin Lewis and Obed Mccoy aside, not a single player put their hand up, took responsibility and consistently did their bit for the team.
Perhaps more worryingly of all is that in the deciding match they failed to chase a very gettable score.
That’s what the Windies are meant to be good at and they even got off to a good start so skipper Kieron Pollard (one of the culprits himself) won’t be best pleased about that failed run chase.
It’s basically the same squad again. The one man they want fit is Fabien Allen, who’s emerging as an extremely important part of the jigsaw as a hard-hitting batsman who bowls useful left-arm spin.
West Indies’ Likely XI
Lewis, Simmons, Gayle, Hetmyer, Pooran, Pollard, Russell, Allen, Bravo, Walsh, McCoy.
Australia Team News
This is a squad with some real T20 pros who have been a part of the Australia set-up for years and who have been playing in T20 leagues all over the world for years.
That includes the likes of skipper Aaron Finch, Mitch Marsh, Adam Zampa and Andrew Tye. It also includes veteran winning machine Dan Christian, a player we rate so highly here at Bet India that we dedicated a whole article just to his unique skills.
Mitchell Starc doesn’t play much domestic T20 cricket and has made just 35 appearances for his country in this format, which isn’t much at all. He’s there, too.
But there are some very interesting and less experienced players here.
Josh Philippe has been setting the BBL alight for two years now but hasn’t had much of a go for Australia. He needs to take his chance.
Moises Henriques is a very interesting prospect as well, a highly experienced middle-order batter who also bowls a bit.
Among the big-name absentees are Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell.
So all in all, it’s a surprise the West indies v Australia betting odds have the tourists as favourites to win this match.
Australia’s Likely XI
Wade, Finch, Philippe, Carey, Henriques, Marsh, Christian, Agar, Zampa, Hazlewood, Starc.
Venue & conditions
Also known as the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, after the two-time T20 World Cup winning skipper, this has been a happy hunting ground for the West Indies. And then some.
The Windies have played here four times and won the lost, against Australia (2010), Pakistan (2011), Australia again (2012) and most recently, England (2019).
Interestingly, there has only ever been one international century scored here: India’s Suresh Raina in 2010, though that was against South Africa.
The side batting first will look to get to 160, which could well be enough.
West Indies vs Australia Head-to-Head
Things are tight between these two when looking at the West Indies v Australia head to head records.
They’ve played each other on 11 occasions and it’s currently 6-5 to the Windies.
The Windies have also won all of the last three and four of the last five but then again, remarkably they haven’t played each other since 2014.
So I’m not entirely sure those recent results have much relevance here.
West Indies vs Australia Toss Prediction
As you can see from the West Indies v Australia toss winner statistics, there’s only been one winner here over the years when it comes to the toss. Anything above 70% is sky high as a toss win rate and the Windies’ record is even slightly better than that.
We have to go with Kieron Pollard to win the toss.
West Indies vs Australia Winner Prediction
Recommended Bet: Back West Indies to win @ 2.05 with Betway
It’s actually very bizarre that in the match winner market, the West Indies are outsiders.
The Windies have won two world titles, are at home, are 6-5 up on head to head and are fielding virtually their strongest possible side. Yes, there’s no Sunil Narine but then again, there’s no guarantee he’ll play for them again anyway. Everyone else is there.
Australia on the other hand have struggled in this format, are missing a load of regular players and will find conditions here completely different to what they are back home.
The 1.66 with Betway suggests a win probability in West Indies v Australia of 60.2% on the Aussies, which looks totally wrong.
I can only think the bookies are giving too much importance to that 3-2 Series defeat to South Africa the Windies are fresh from. But we’re delighted we can back the West Indies at that price, so they’re our boys in the match prediction.
By the way, here’s our Betway review so you can see why we think this is one of the best sites for Indian customers.
Today’s West Indies vs Australia Hot Bet
Recommended Bet: Back Kieron Pollard to be the West Indies’ Top Batsman @ 8.0 with 10CRIC.
Kieron Pollard will want to make amends in this Series not just as a winning captain but also as a match-changing batsman.
He was playing really well in the IPL where he hit a quite remarkable 87 off 34 as Mumbai beat CSK, until it was suspended. But he had quite a lean series against the Proteas.
He didn’t bat in the first game, then got 1, 1, 51 and 13. That 51 was a reminder of what the big man can do on his day and he’ll want to show everyone the captaincy isn’t affecting his batting.
He knows the Australian bowlers well and I expect him to bat at four or five rather than six or seven here.
Given the Windies’ top order hasn’t been at its best and you can see how a quick 40 here could well be enough at good odds. So that’s the second of our betting predictions.
West Indies vs Australia fun statistics
Let’s finish things off with some cool stats about the two teams and some of their players.
Windies skipper Pollard is the man with the most T20Is of anyone on the field, having played 84. Dwayne Bravo is next on 79.
The Windies won seven tosses in a row against Australia in T20Is between February 2010 and February 2013.
Incredibly, Aussie skipper Aaron Finch has a top score of 172 in T20Is.
Andre Russell has never hit a fifty in 54 matches for the Windies in T20Is.
